Thais love kids and if you bring children to Bangkok you can be sure that people will wish to talk to the kids, and be very friendly. Being a busy crowded city with limited open spaces and crowded pavements also makes it difficult. Moving with a pram is impossible and if you have infants, bring a back carrying infant device. Some of the best attractions for kids we list below.

 

Bangkok Dolls

A small doll museum that can be seen free of charge. Located at 85 Soi Mor Leng, Thanon Ratchaprarop.

 

Children’s Discovery Museum
top  

A hands on museum with plenty of activities to amuse children. Lots of toys, playground and interactive exhibits. Located in Queen Sirikit Park which is opposite the weekend market. The nearest skytrain station is Mo Chit but will require a short walk or taxi ride. Open from 9am on Tuesday to Friday closing at 5pm and at 10am on Saturday and Sunday closing at 6pm. Computer Games

Most of the main shopping plazas have excellent computer games rooms that are well equipped and good value. Often located on the higher levels. They can be found in World Trade Centre, Discovery Centre, Major Cineplex and Seacon Square.

 

Dream World

A big theme park to the North of Bangkok at Rangsit Nakornnayok. Plenty of things to do for the whole family. Open every day from 10am until 5pm and until 7pm on Saturday and Sunday. A number of different ticket options exist to make it more economical. (02 533 1152)

 

Dusit Zoo

An attractive zoo with botanical gardens that continually improves. There is a children’s zoo, play area and paddleboats to provide fun for kids. The zoo is open every day from 8am until 6pm. Dusit Zoo is located on Rama V Road opposite Chitrlada Palace. If you travel by Skytrain use Victory Monument station.

 

Grand Palace

Most children will enjoy the Grand Palace and to make it more interesting hire a personal guide from the entrance who will bring it alive with stories to amuse the kids.


Ice Skating Rink

Located on the roof of the World Trade Centre it is very popular with young Thais and welcomes overseas visitors. Best to go early in the day as becomes very busy in the afternoon and evening.

 

Leoland Water Park

Located on the roof of the Central City shopping mall and visible from many roads to easy to find. Lots of waterslides, pools and very suitable for younger children. Located at 1093 Thanon Bangna, and opens at 11am every weekday and 10am at the weekends.

 

Ocean World

Ocean aquarium inside the Siam Paragon shopping mall.

 

PTT Speedway

Indoor go kart stadium where kids cna race each other. Located at the RCA, Rama IX Road. (02 203 1203).

 

River trips

Trips on the river in the longboats are very popular. You can charter your own from the quay at the Oriental Hotel if you want to travel not as part of a tour group. If you go in the morning then you can also see the floating market.

 

Rose Garden

The rose garden is an afternoon trip out of Bangkok and has elephant and cultural shows at 2.45pm every day. Following the cultural show is an elephant show. Best reached by private taxi or as part of a tour.

 

Samphran Elephant Ground

This is an afternoon trip and can be done in a private taxi or as part of a tour. Lots of demonstrations of elephants at work.

 

Safari World
top  

Very popular with kids with its zoo and amusement park. Located at 99 Thanon Seri Thai, North East and open from 10am – 6pm every day.

 

Siam Park

This is where you can find a beach in Bangkok and man made waves! Waterslides, amusement park, small zoo, and children’s playground will amuse the kids. Siam Park is at 99 Serithai Road, Khannayao and open from 10am until 7pm every day. (02 919 7200).

 

Snake Farm (Thai Red Cross Farm)

Located in the centre of Bangkok on Rama 1V road makes it easy to visit to see the demonstration of snake venom extraction held at 10.30am and 2.30pm every day. The nearest skytrain stop is Sala Daeng.

 

Technopolis Science Museum

A hi tec museum that has something for all ages. Located at Techno Thani, Thanon Rangsit – Nakhonnayok, North East. Closed on Mondays and open from 9am – 5.30pm for the rest of the week.
